This is a slide presentation that students can follow for an enrichment challenge if studying fractions and area (Y5 upwards most likely).
These are a lesson’s worth of challenges using the Tangram pieces. I have a large set of Tangram pieces, bought cheaply from Temu or Shein, but you can also laminate your own pieces to save money. Students work out the area of each piece given that the total area is 64 units squared, and also the fractional amount too. They may choose to work out fractions of amounts procedurally, or they may just think about halving and doubling.
