Also called the “attribute” or “classification” train. A fun activity/game for young learners.
The idea is simple enough. Start a train with an item, or shape. It doesn’t have to be mathematical, though that is a good place to start. The second item, the next carriage, should share a quality, an attribute, with the first part of the train. So for example, if your first part, the engine, is a yellow triangle, the next person could choose another triangle, something yellow, something pointy etc. Then the next person must add to the train by linking the new item with another item. The attributes should be different each time.
You can make the game challenging by first asking your learners to bring a selection of the items before playing the game, or you can add an item and ask what the shared attribute might be.
