This website from the US is a treasure trove of ideas and lesson activities. Some of them have videos with them, whilst others may be presented as slides. They often come with worksheets and as far as I can see, it is all free!
There are SO many great activities here, and games and puzzles! My favourites so far are Arrows Everywhere, which is basic addition but offers some great puzzling and strategy, Bulgarian Solitaire (with a King Kong theme) for pattern recognition, and fussy friend graphs for guess and check strategies. A theme running through Gordon Hamilton’s videos is to be the slowest person in the room, when completing a puzzle with the class. If something doesn’t work, take time to realise it didn’t work, or if it did, question why it does work with yourself, mirroring perhaps a student who struggles with processing.
- Videos and Notes with activities
- Rich explorations
- Lots of ideas and hands on tasks!
