Badger Problem Solving for Years 1-2 has been written to help develop the mathematical problem solving skills of children aged 5 to 7. Each problem comes with teacher notes.
These were originally shared back in the 2000s, but maths never goes out of fashion. In this collection of 10 problems, each one is designed to be acted out and presented in a way that students can use manipulatives to help solve the problem. That is one of what I consider the key steps to solving a problem. This book also introduces Polya’s four step approach to problem solving as well, if you wanted to add structure to the process.
Always a bonus when the answers are explained – along with teacher notes and ideas of how to set the challenge up. These are just samples from a larger book available on their website.
